Magnetic Lashes - My hopes and the meh

When magnetic lashes first made their appearance on social media, I must say, I was uber excited about the possibility that I could apply lash extensions in a flash without messing around with lash adhesive.  I mean who doesn't want to have a stellar wink in a flash?!  However, the more I read about this new lash product the more I started to wonder about how they could possibly align properly onto my lash line and if they would last an evening out?

I decided to give them a try.  Magnetic lashes are sold on many different websites such as Amazon and Sally's and they come in a variety of sizes - some with 1, 2 or 3 magnets.  Typically the longer the strip the more magnets.  However, I have seen long strips with only one magnet and those are usually a lower price point.  But lets be real, your properly paying more for the magnets even though the lashes are the most important part!

The one I tried had three magnets, one in the middle and two located ALMOST on the outer edges.  The reason I emphasize on "almost" is because I think this is the one important factor in having great magnetic lashes.

I removed the lashes from the package and took one strip and applied a piece on top of my lashes and the corresponding piece I held up to the bottom of my lashes.  The magnets somewhat attached but the lash strip moved up my natural lashes away from my lash line.  I had to play around a bit to get it close enough to my lash line and even when I did, one of the ends would move up again.  I found it very hard to apply the strips and to boot the ends curled up so the lash strip visibly looked out of place.  The reason they curl up is because the magnets are only ALMOST at the end of each side of the lash strip.

While this specific lash did not work for me, it is possible that the smaller lash piece option would have been a better choice even though it has one magnet.  The reason behind that is that you can place the extension closer to the outer corner of your eye which may create a fabulous winged eye look.  I would still suggest lining your eye with eyeliner after applying the extensions to hide the ends sticking out.

My honest suggestions is - save your money on buying this product and invest some time in learning how to apply regular lash strips with lash adhesive.  The results will be better and the lash extensions will adhere more securely to your eye so if your planning a night out dancing the only thing that could get those suckers loose is a serious session on the dance floor!  There are great YouTube videos out there that can teach you proper application and techniques on how to blend your extensions with your lashes.

Happy Lashing
