After Care Instructions

Every client’s skin responds and heals differently after Microblading. The below information acts as a guideline to assist you with the healing process so you can achieve the best results.

Immediately after your procedure:

  • Over the next 2 to 3 days your microbladed brows will appear darker, bolder in colour and thicker as scabs begin to form. It should take up to ten (10) days for your brows to heal and for scabs to minimize.

  • Swelling and redness is minimal for most clients and will disappear within 24-36 hours. You may take an Advil to help alleviate any swelling. In the rare event your swelling is still present, please ensure you are not touching your brows or in the sun without a hat.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before taking care of your brows! For the first hour after your service is completed, use a cotton pad to pad off any excess fluid. After two hours, wash your brow with mild soup, pat dry with paper towel or cotton pad then apply on each brow a rice grain size of the healing ointment provided to you at your service. You will repeat this process for 5-7 days. Please note that natural oils such as coconut or avocado oil should not be used on your brows especially witch-hazel as that particular oil lifts and changes pigment.

  • No streaming water, cleansers, creams, makeup or any other products should come near your treated area for ten days. Getting the treated area touched by any chemicals may affect your healing process and the colour pigment of your microblading. You will have to try to avoid getting the area soaked while showering or washing your face. Only after ten days may you go about your routine normally.

  • DO NOT pick or scratch at the scabs/dry skin/flakiness – let it fall of naturally. Picking can cause scarring, premature loss of pigment and hair and may cause an infection.

  • Once the flakes have fallen off, a shiny layer of healing skin will completely cover the hair strokes. It may appear as though the microbladed area has completely disappeared or the colour may appear muted. After about two weeks, the hair strokes will slowly re-appear at a lighter shade as your skin regenerates.

  • If you have bangs, you must clip them back for the first seven days to avoid irritation and infection.Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for three to four weeks after procedure.

  • Avoid heavy sweating for the first seven days.

  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for four weeks after your procedure.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first ten days.

  • The complete healing process takes about four to six weeks, at which time the true colour of the microblading will be evident. During this process, your brows will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much colour has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating.

  • The touch up appointment is crucial and is recommended five weeks after your first appointment. This is the time where adjustments and changes can be made to your brows. Your follow up appointment can only be done then. Please remember, it usually takes two treatments to achieve desired results. The first appointment is about building hair strokes, structure and design. Your touch-up is about seeing how the skin heals and retains pigment as well as achieving better symmetry and volume.

Once healed:

  • Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discolouration of the pigment. Once completely healed, you may apply sunscreen on the treated area. Wear large sunglasses and a hat for further protection. Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

  • Glycolic acid, face peel or brightening products must be kept away from the treated area as continued use could lighten the pigment.

  • If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal done after your treatment has healed, please inform the laser technician about your brows. Continue at your own discretion. Laser procedures may darken, lighten or discolour the microbladed area.

  • Microblading may last eight months to two years if proper aftercare is followed and the touch up (second treatment within six (6) weeks) was completed. Some people’s skin does not take the pigment as well as others. If this is your case, you may have to come back earlier for your future touch ups.

  • If you are trying to fix/cover a microblading or tattoo previously done by another artist in the treated area, the final results may not completely hide the previous work, but will dramatically improve. You may need additional appointments to achieve desired results.

  • If you are iron deficient your pigment may not last as long as others.
